Description
The Role:
The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking Clinical Coders to join its statewide Clinical Coding team as part of the broader Health Information Management Services team. Our team utilises a statewide PAS, scanned medical record along with other statewide clinical information systems. There is the opportunity to be based in the North, North West or South of the state, so if you are looking for a change of scenery this could be the perfect opportunity! You will primarily be responsible for:
- Accurate and timely clinical coding of inpatient separations in accordance with Hospital, State and Commonwealth data standards and reporting requirements, for the purposes of Australian Refined Diagnosis Related Group (AR-DRG) assignment for activity-based funding, inpatient activity reporting, clinical and non-clinical research, case mix analysis and patient care quality improvement.
- Adhering to Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA) guidelines whilst utilising the current edition of the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM), Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI) and Australian Coding Standards (ACS).
You will be supported in your role by the Senior Clinical Coding and Clinical Coding Managers team, along with your Clinical Coding colleagues across the state.
We can offer you flexible working conditions including the opportunity to work from home in accordance with an established health Information Management Services guideline.
Details of Appointment
Multiple permanent, full time/part time, day work positions working up to 76 hours per fortnight
Salary: $73,602 - $84,846 pro-rata per annum + 10% superannuation
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
Eligibility:
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Clinical coder certification as approved by the Health Information Management Association of Australia
- Clinical Coding experience in a tertiary level hospital
