    North Eastern Community Hospital (NECH) is a not-for-profit private hospital with an 84 bed Aged Care Facility. As a community hospital, all profits generated are reinvested for the benefit of providing support to healthcare services for the community.
    We believe it’s our strong connection to our community that brings people back to NECH, from our surgical and medical support and of course, supporting our elderly in our Aged Care Residential Facility.  We are unique in that all our services are provided under one roof.  We have two operating theatres, two dedicated gastroenterology procedure rooms, and a medical and surgical ward with growth across all sectors.
    About the Role
    We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Senior Clinical Coder to join our team on a permanent part-time basis.
    The primary responsibilities and duties of the position include:

    • Liaison with clinicians and other health professionals to clarify and seek further information regarding coding queries.
    • Participation in the comprehensive and ongoing coding education program.
    • Optimise the quality of the coding by participating in and taking responsibility for continuous quality improvement strategies and audits.
    • Be accountable for the application of the Australian Coding Standards and ensure consistent application in the abstraction of clinical information for disease and procedure classification.
    • Ensuring that coding is completed in a timely manner to ensure internal and external deadlines are achieved.
    • Maintaining compliance with reporting requirements
    • Participate in coding audits, mentoring team members and other data quality activities.

    Essential Criteria

    • Completion of Clinical Coding qualification from HIMAA
    • Prior coding experience in private or public health care facility
    • Demonstrated experience with electronic coding products
    • Excellent time management and organisational skills
    • Able to work autonomously with minimal supervision
    • Ability to engage and build relationships with visiting medical specialists.
