Coding Educator / Auditor (Full Time / Part Time)

The Coding Educator / Auditor role, has significant influence in the direction of our coding service. This includes management of the Epworth Coding Induction program and ongoing upskilling of our Clinical Coding Team. This role also includes providing education to clinicians on documentation requirements for coding and implementing documentation improvement strategies. Working within rotational portfolios this role also works in the Coding Auditing space, ensuring management of the Epworth Internal Audit program and strategic direction of the auditing plan, setting strategies for revenue optimisation both during the coding process and through audits. As well as performing quality audits and providing feedback to coding staff, this role is responsible for coordination and will participate in both internal and external coding audits.
To succeed in this role, you will have highly proficient time management skills, adaptability and willingness to get the job done. Your high attention to detail will ensure comprehensive education for our team and align with our improving audit outcomes. You will use your extensive coding experience and educational and auditing skills to promote a culture of accountability, improve coding quality and inspire the next generation of HIM / Clinical Coders at Epworth.
To be successful for this role you will have:
- Bachelor of Health Information Management / Cert IV in Clinical Classification (Advanced) or equivalent
- Excellent classification and casemix funding knowledge with previous coding experience in a medium/large complex health service
- Previous Educator/Auditor experience desirable
- Ability to cope under pressure and make informed decisions according to the needs of Epworth
