How you will make an impact
Cabrini is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced health information expert with a passion for leading a motivated team of professionals in managing all aspects of health information and information governance across our network of hospitals.
As Director Health Information Services and Information Governance (DHIS&IG) you will provide operational leadership and be responsible for the management, planning and delivery of best practice clinical coding, health record and information management.
The DHIS&IG will drive the ongoing development of Health Information Services workflows, support the future transition from a paper to digital health record and work closely with clinical and non-clinical services to ensure organisational and strategic objectives align across with the service. The position will oversee Health Information Services across all Cabrini hospital campuses ably supported by teams at Cabrini Malvern, Brighton and Corporate Services.

Importantly, the DHIS will be a leader of people and possess sound stakeholder engagement capabilities and communication skills that will enable their positive engagement with all stakeholders. You will also have:
Extensive experience working in a Health Information management position
Knowledge of relevant legislation, industry standards and best practices
Knowledge of AR-DRGs and casemix funding
Knowledge, understanding, commitment and demonstration of a customer service ethos
Strong reporting and data skills, coupled with a knowledge of private health funding
Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
Proven ability to prioritise and manage time effectively
High degree of attention to detail and accuracy
High level computing skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook
An interest and experience in digital opportunities to enhance clinical coding and electronic record keeping
Essential education, experience and registration
Master/Bachelor of Health Information Management or equivalent
Extensive post-graduate experience, with at least two years as an area/department manager
Practical experience in ICD10-AM coding and knowledge of casemix funding
Demonstrated high level operational skills, organisational ability and efficient practice
Understanding of processes and practices relating to privacy, data quality, data integrity and governance
Eligible for full membership of the Health Information Management Association of Australia
Desirable education, experience and registration
Related post-graduate qualification/or willingness to work towards
Understanding of Private Health sector funding arrangements and impacts
Working knowledge of WebPAS – Patient Information System
