How you will make an impact
Join Cabrini’s Health Information Services team, where your output helps make an impact on the organisation’s performance. The Health Information Manager (HIM) / Clinical Coder will work within our Health Information Services team based at Cabrini’s corporate office located in Hawthorn East and will be required to work some shifts at Cabrini Malvern.
Our casemix is varied and includes specialties such as Cardiology, Obstetrics, Mental Health, Neurology, Oncology, Rehabilitation, Palliative Care, Intensive Care and day surgery. This role offers a HIM / Clinical Coder the opportunity to base themselves in a Health Service with the benefits of job security, the support of peers in your workplace and a comprehensive education and training program. Once coding training is completed, the incumbent will have the opportunity to become involved in other health information responsibilities dependent upon business requirements, interests and skills.
Key responsibilities:
Accurate coding of medical records in accordance with the Australian Coding Standards
Processing of confidential data which is used for billing, morbidity collections, research, statistical analysis, management information systems, quality activities and casemix management including Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG) allocation
Participation in regular coding audits and quality improvement activities
Liaising with clinicians and other health professionals to clarify and seek further clinical information regarding coding queries
About you
To succeed in this role, you will have a passion for accurate coding and a genuine desire to learn and improve.
You will have:
Bachelor / Masters of Health Information Management or have successfully completed the HIMAA Intermediate or Advanced Coding Course or equivalent;
Minimum 2 years coding experience;
Sound working knowledge of the Australian Coding Standards and their application;
Attention to detail, whilst still able to work to deadlines;
Ability to be team oriented and adapt to new challenges with a positive attitude;
Knowledge of private hospital funding arrangements and Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs).
