    Chief Health Professional, Grade 3

    Our Private Hospitals Division seeks to appoint a Manager, Health Information Services (HIS) to lead the Department with an emphasis on developing systems, staff and services that are innovative, resource efficient and meet the changing needs of the hospital. Reporting directly to the National Manager, HIS, the position will be responsible to:

    • Ensure HIS accomplishes agreed Key Performance Indicators including staff and Department based;
    • Work within allocated budget to achieve working hours per bed day requirements and service provision levels;
    • Manage the processes related to ensuring coding and data accuracy is achieved and mandatory reporting requirements are met;
    • Oversee the scanning of medical record processes and associated clerical tasks in conjunction with the Clerical Team Leader;
    • Manage and lead all Department staff, establishing strong working relationships and a positive culture;
    • Oversee the management of the Medical Record Forms process;
    • Work with other HIS Department Heads to facilitate the continuation of Coder Education and Training;
    • Represent the Hospital as Privacy Officer whilst working collaboratively with other relevant staff to ensure all medico-legal requirements are achieved;
    • Collaborate with the Quality and Risk Department to ensure requirements are achieved, in particular Hospital Acquired Complication reviews;
    • Work in partnership with the Patient Accounts team to ensure there is an efficient workflow for invoice related coding and documentation reviews;
    • Educate clinical staff regarding documentation requirements and provide material to support the improvement of clinical documentation.

    To be successful in this role, you will hold a Bachelor of Health Information Manager or equivalent and preferably post graduate qualifications. Additionally, you will have:

    • Suitable experience in a senior management or leadership role, preferably in the private health sector;
    • Ability to drive a positive work culture, typified by engaged staff who understand their role;
    • Demonstrated competency in clinical coding to ensure the ability to oversee the coding process and staff and contribute significantly to the strategic aim of “Right First Time” and a skilled and educated workforce;
    • High level knowledge in Microsoft Office and a detailed understanding of common industry software in conjunction with an aptitude to learn;
    • Pro-active analytical / problem-solving skills;
    • Confident oral and written communication skills;
    • Experience in contributing to processes to improve revenue cycles in the Private Health Information Services arena.
